How scheduling works by distance
Calls from Warren, Center Line and the cities that touch the square are the closest trips we make. Farther out, we group visits by direction when we can, so a morning in Royal Oak and Ferndale or an afternoon toward St. Clair Shores makes sense for everyone. When you call, we tell you honestly where your address fits in the day.
Three counties, three kinds of plumbing
South Macomb is mostly postwar housing on county-run sewer interceptors, with lakeshore communities that deal with high water. South Oakland’s inner-ring suburbs have some of the oldest bungalows in the area and sewers that carry storm and sanitary flow together in places. The Wayne County communities we cover start at the 8 Mile border with Detroit and include some of the oldest housing of all. Each county page and city page covers what is specific to that place.
Why the city on your address changes the job
Each city runs its own water and sewer rules, and they show up in the work. Center Line has its own water and sewer system even though Warren surrounds it. In Detroit, many house laterals tap into a sewer under the alley instead of running out to the street. Royal Oak buys its water through the Southeastern Oakland County Water Authority and holds owners responsible for their cleanout and sewer connection, much as Warren does. Grosse Pointe Woods sends combined sewage to the Milk River basins, while neighboring Grosse Pointes have spent years separating their own pipes. Permits come from the building department of the city the property sits in, not from Warren.
When you call from outside Warren, give us the city as well as the street. Two houses on the same mile road can sit in different cities with different rules, and knowing your water utility or any recent sewer work on your block helps us plan the visit.
